What is an NPI and why does it appear on a letter?

A National Provider Identifier is a unique 10-digit number for a healthcare provider, and it lets an administrator verify the clinician.

NPIs are issued in the United States and listed in the public NPPES registry. Including the NPI lets a plan administrator confirm that the person who signed the letter is a real, identifiable provider.

MedsClaim checks the clinician's NPI against the registry before a package is released.

Pending clinician sign-off. General education only, not medical, tax, or legal advice. Your plan administrator decides eligibility.
