Can a letter of medical necessity be backdated?

No. A letter should carry the date the clinician actually evaluated the patient and signed it.

Backdating a medical document misrepresents when the clinician's judgment was made and can put the patient's claim, and the clinician's license, at risk.

Whether a letter covers an earlier purchase is up to the plan administrator. MedsClaim dates every letter on the day the clinician signs it and never creates letters for care that has not happened.

Pending clinician sign-off. General education only, not medical, tax, or legal advice. Your plan administrator decides eligibility.
